WEG S.A. has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding and the concluding of a technology transfer agreement with M. Torres Olvega Industrial (MTOI) of Spain.
The memorandum of understanding and the technology transfer agreement will result in the creation of a joint venture between WEG and MTOI, with equal participation, for manufacturing, assembling, installing and marketing of wind turbine generators, as well as operation and maintenance services.
With this Joint Venture WEG will be able to start to meet the growing demand of the Brazilian market, participating in the wind power generation business supplying wind turbine generators with proven technology and high local content.
About the MTOI Group
The MTOI Group was founded in 1975 to design, develop and manufacture systems for industrial and process automation solutions for the aeronautics, pulp & paper and energy sectors. (MTOI) started operating in the wind sector in 1999 with the development of its TWT-1500 multipolar wind turbine (1,500 kW rated power and 70 metre rotor diameter). Today, MTOI offers its TWT-1.65 MW family with three rotor sizes (70, 77 & 82 m.) and 71/81 metre tower heights. In addition, currently under validation is the TWT-2.5 MW family (with rotors of 90, 100 and 109 m.) and 100 metre concrete towers.
This family integrates improvements to reduce wind turbine noise, as well as increasing energy efficiency, which is especially significant in medium and low wind sites.
